This particular car is the first car my wife ever owned (bought it from her cousin for $275 in '69 I believe).  After she was done with it, it got passed down to younger sisters and eventually her dad ended up using it as a daily driver for many years.  Both my son and daughter, when they turned 14, were taken out in it to a lonely dirt road in Montana for their first driving lesson.  The combined stress of it being a 3-speed manual and Dad having the video camera going made these trips an experience never to be forgotten.  Anyway, my son was never much interested in cars (with the possible exception of new fast ones) but my daughter just loves old cars.  She suggested that we take this car back to Arizona and fix it up as a father-daughter project.  Now, how many dads could argue with that?  I did a little, but you know who won.

We decided to call our 1961 Falcon Futura a 'Futang' after we transplanted the 3.8 engine and AOD transmission from a 1995 Mustang into it.  Our goal was to end up with a reliable daily driver that still retained a lot of the original Falcon charm.  We think we’ve succeeded.
